October 2024: Ongoing Gas Network Upgrade
SGN, a gas distribution company, is upgrading the gas network on site.
You may be aware of their ongoing work in the Mitcham area, replacing old pipes.
The work is expected to last around 12 months.
For non-urgent concerns during working hours, please refer to the contact number displayed on the main front gate on Western Road, which may change due to staff availability.

St William’s planning application for Mitcham Gasworks is now available to view on the Council’s website. You can find all the information here.
The proposed development includes 595 new homes, of which 35% will be affordable, public open space and flexible commercial uses.

We are writing to let you know that a planning application has been submitted for the redevelopment of Mitcham Gasworks.
The proposed development includes 595 new homes, including 35% affordable homes, public open space and flexible commercial uses.
There will be opportunity to comment on St William’s proposals once the planning application has been validated by the Council’s planning department, which is likely to be in the New Year. The Council will notify residents directly once the application is available and open for consultation.

St William are aware that there are currently unauthorised people on the Mitcham Gasworks site and are working with the police and bailiffs to remove them.
(November 2022)
St William have submitted a planning application for a temporary commercial (up to three years) use of the southern portion of the site, along Field Gate Lane.
This temporary commercial use will provide local employment and help prevent any anti-social behaviour taking place on site.
